Digital Animation video consist in animated 3D cartoons. Is the three dimensional development of traditional 2D cartoons.
Flat animation based on 2D drawings have been developed since early last century; the novelty now relies in the development and perfection achieved with the latest techniques, CGI animation (Computer Generated Imaginery), creating as a result three-dimensional drawing elements with volume and the capacity of generating virtual spaces.
Virtual Video is also based on CGI images, but they are not cartoons. They are 3D images with a real appearance that allow a 3D volumetric development. Tanks to the images, volumetric objects are created, generating also a virtual space. Is a place susceptible of being photographed or filmed from different angles and points of view. The real appearance could confuse us at first sight, but the images are always virtual creations. The artists create a new world.
The spectator observes a surprising image that exists somewhere between reality and fiction.
These creations allow developing allegories and scenes under an attentive look in a slow down time perception. This slow motion makes possible a closer observation at unbelievable details, concluding in certain space disorientation. The real unreality captured.
Virtual Videoart
Distant from real environment, in a first virtual immersion level depending on different techniques, we can distinguish two genres of virtual video, depending on its grade of reality mimesis.
Animation is the first case, where 3D cartoons detached from real representation can be found.
On the contrary, the second case presents scenes with such real appearance that can be confused with real photographs if it wasn’t because of the fantastic subjects that reproduce impossible situations: Virtual films.

VIDEO GAMES
Video games may belong to the second level of immersion, called virtual, in case of being made by programmers and graphic designers with a commercial purpose, promotional in nature, teaser or advertising or belong to the 3rd immersive level, ie developed in the metaverse when the game is part of that generated world.
"The Night Journey is a video game/art project based on the universal story of an individual mystic's journey toward enlightenment.
Visual inspiration for The Night Journey is drawn from the prior works of Bill Viola. Narrative inspiration comes from the lives and writings of great historical figures including: Rumi, the 13th century Islamic poet and mystic; Ryokan, the 18th century Zen Buddhist poet; St. John of the Cross, the 16th century Spanish mystic and poet; and Plotinus, the 3rd century philosopher. The interactive design attempts to evoke in the player's mind a sense of the archetypal journey of enlightenment through the "mechanics" of the game experience - i.e. the choices and actions of the player during the game.
The player's voyage through The Night Journey takes them through a poetic landscape, a space that has more reflective and spiritual qualities than geographical ones. The core mechanic in the game is the act of traveling and reflecting rather than reaching certain destinations - the trip along a path of enlightenment.
The game is being developed with video game technologies, but attempts to stretch the boundaries of what game experiences may communicate with its unique visual design, content and mechanics. The team has created a set of custom post-processing techniques for the 3D environment that evoke the sense of "explorable video," integrating the imagery of Bill Viola's prior work into the game world at both a technical and creative level. A hologram is a three-dimensional image on an advanced technique of photography. In the process is used a laser beam microscopically photosensitive film that records the underlying. When, receiving direct light from a proper perspective, projects an image that is three-dimensional or 3D.
In musical holograms we are able to watch disappeared singers as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Lisa Lopes, Tupac Shakur or Joe Arroyo and poets like Pablo Neruda's hologram used in the 110th anniversary of his birth, the poetic holographic figure through the streets of Chile.
However, holograms are also used to create virtual or digital characters such as the vocaloids Hatsune Miku the most famous Japanese virtual idol singer who has millions of followers.
